Article about Web 2.0 says that this new version of the web is not just a one way type of communication. It involves interaction between users and engage in collaborations. It also helps anyone in their learning experience. It stated that knowledge is distributed through connections in networks. "Siemens (2004) articulates eight major theses of connectivism:
1. learning and knowledge rests in diversity of opinions
2. learning is a process of connecting specialized nodes or information sources
3. learning may reside in non-human appliances
4. the capacity to know more is more critical than what is currently known
5. nurturing and maintaining connections is needed to facilitate continual
learning
6. the ability to see connections between fields, ideas, and concepts is a core
skill
7. currency (accurate, up-to-date knowledge) is the intent of all connectivist
learning activities, and
8. decision making is in itself a learning process; choosing what to learn and the
meaning of incoming information is seen through the lens of a shifting reality;
while there is a right answer now, it may be wrong tomorrow due to
alterations in the information climate affecting the decision. " (Web 2.o article)
With this in view, web 2.0 tools are definitely a good source of knowledge. These applies to the type of education school offers now a days (online courses). Students uses computers and the net to better understand principles taught in a normal classroom scenario. They are capable of interacting freely to topics given (e-learning). I fell that these things are just a result of the advancing technology. I think I can be more prepare for my future employment.
Skills 2.0 discusses about the skills that must be obtained to have a better understanding in using the Web 2.0 tools ( Attitude, Learning and Collaboration). Attitude is accepting that we don't know everything and that there are others who can help us know better. But, we need to consider connecting to the right people for the right information. Second one is learning. Learning professionals must be the first ones to test or use the Web 2.0 tools. They are first and foremost the reliable sources of information. The last one is collaboration. By sharing information to the public through the net, it's easier for learning professionals to know if what they know pis up to date or not. It also mentioned that collaboration is a two-way street. It builds trust and good relations with others of the same profession. I think that these skills are really very important in my professional development. I cannot just rely on my own. The more resource the better. Sometimes, the most reliable knowledge is knowledge gained through experience.
